From BANDS I USETA LIKE #1.
Whether you realize it or not, the way that you listen to music is dictated by the way it’s sold to you.
The “record album” was crippled and marched to extinction by a file-sharing website called Napster. Once users could cherry-pick the songs they desired for free, there was no longer any reason to package them together, or design art for them. Ipods were created once Apple saw the fortune to be reaped from people wanting a computer just to fill with audio files. Because there was no more incentive to craft a suite of tunes, or a concept album, everything went back to short pop music again. Because the convenience had redeemed it profitable.
I don’t like to lash out and spread negativity, but I truly hope the kid who created Napster sucks cocks in hell for eternity. It’s all that punk-ass’s fault. Continue reading

In 1972, there was a schism in the world of “underground comix”. Its poster boy, Robert Crumb, had licensed his controversial Fritz the Cat to a pair of Saturday morning cartoon men, for a feature film production. Depending on whom you ask, the final result is either the fault of Crumb’s intransigence, the director’s dabbling, or the distributor’s trepidation about the content. The reality is that Fritz was never meant for franchising.

If there’s one thing I’m certain of, more so than I am that the earth is round, it’s that you and I are different. I don’t know you personally, but I’d bet my bottom dollar we wouldn’t click. I know this from a life of experience. That, and every single person I encounter informs me of thus.
You might think I have a problem with being “different”. I don’t. You do. Out of some deluded sense of camaraderie you felt from one of my comics, you thought I was “like you”. Then, when you realized you were wrong, you attacked me. You all do this. On the internet, on Facebook, to my face. I’ve dealt with this shuck-and-jive routine my entire life. I’m not what you want me to be, so you decide you’re gonna give Big Bad Matty Boy a piece of your mind. Because I’m apparently your little toon-scribbling monkey. Time to bring me down a peg.
